The bolt provided by the manufacturer gave me about an 1/8th of an inch of thread to connect the gas shock into the mount and tighten down the nut on the backside. This creates a problem because of the vibrating from the sulking moving over the ground as much as it does, the smaller bolt was actually boring out the hole in the mount and creates a lot of play in the sulk itself. At one point, this extra play that resulted from the bolt boring out the hole in the mount enabled the nut to unscrew itself and detach the gas shock from the machine! By installing this longer stud, there is additional thread available to properly tighten down the gas shock which prevents the extra play and movement of the sulky when cutting grass.I hope this helps. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ good quality --but price?? *by R***D on Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2020* these units are good quality ( most metal products are at a minimum acceptable) but at 3 dol each kind of expensive -- if you look--i did not know what to call these (they are called " ball studs " i search) i found the same product with 5 units for 8 dol ----- these 4 for 11.99 theres 5 units for 8 dollars ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good replacement for broken ball end *by T***E on Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2021* I bought these ends as replacements for broken ball ends for the door struts on my horses trailer. These actually appear to be heavier built than the originals. They fit the pre-existing holes, so no drilling necessary for my installation. They fit the socket ends of the struts perfectly.
