The boards get really tight on the end if the boards are warp the right way. I am assuming since it a ceiling you're doing you aren't going to space it. Just realize that this tool helps with warped boards, it will not hold the boards up to the ceiling. I used it on almost every board on my deck and it worked great. With this tool I installed my decking boards by myself on a 17'x22' deck in about 12 hours. Couldn't have finished without it. **Q: Do you need to purchase the t&g attachment for this tool to install tg cedar?** A: Yes, otherwise the flat surface of the standard tool may damage the grooves. **Q: Will this work with 2x8" boards on steel i beam joists 4 ½” wide? what's the distance between the 2 holding bars? if needed, is there an attachment?** A: I don't believe you'd be able to get 2x8 to bend with this bender. Also it just isn't set up for working with I beams.
