It is just soap, just like suds is just soap in another form after water and agitation is applied. For best results do not touch the soap with bare hands when unpacking. The "fur" grows thicker the longer it is left untouched and exposed to air. Very damp air will destroy the "fur" or result in less forming. Once it is wet as when used it will not grow "fur" again. I wish they would bring back the toy inside and the original bear and other shapes that were once available. But this was a fun way to share a childhood memory with my niece, and when I was a kid a fun way for my dad to show us a bit of a natural chemistry experiment. So it could be used as a learning tool as well.
