I don't know if I am interpreting their size and this one correctly...** A: We have not used it on an airline, but I'm fairly certain it will pass for the standard requirements. We fly a lot and have used larger backpacks and they have been just fine. That being said, I do NOT recommend buying this backpack. It is very poorly made and lasted maybe a full month before falling apart. The zippers don't always zip fully, the shoulder straps don't stay tight and the bottom is very thin and wears out easily. It would be worth the extra money to buy a more durable backpack, in my opinion. I hope this helps. **Q: Is this machine washable?** A: Care instructions - please wash with a damp cloth. **Q: Anyone know how durable this is? My 8 year old frequently destroys back packs and typically needs a new one before years end.** A: Do no buy this one then. I wrote a bad review for the backpack. I bought two of them because my boys love the colors.
