I play at a church where don't currently use guitar amps for live sound but I want to have that tube amp sound.So, my remedy is this: I have a Carls Custom Speaker Soak (8 ohm tube amp speaker attenuator) and this Palmer PDI 09 The Junction. I have my amp signal go out to the Palmer and the thru goes out into the input of my speaker attenuator and the out of the attenuator plugs into the speaker of my amp (Blues Jr). I turn the attenuator all the way down (only a slight, slight sound comes out of the spaker then) but I can crank my master volume and gain up as high as I want to get the overdriven tone sent to the mixer that I want.The PDI-09 has an XLR out that goes to the mixer. So not only is this a direct box (but it only works with your amp, not really for plugging a guitar and pedals into, its designed to come from amps) but the filters inside simulate speakers to give a more realistic line level signal sent to the mixer. I use it on the bright setting and like it a lot.I have the attenuation set to default (whichever is the lowest, blanking on that right now) because the signal was way too hot going to my mixer any other way.Enjoy this!
