Review: Ugly yet effective replacement cooling for Intel Compute Stick PC - As an IT Admin for a small Transportation Company we have a large monitor set up so we can view all of our vehicles out on the road. After the remodel we wanted a better solution than using an older Dell PC which was using up precious desk space. We purchased an Intel W5 Pro with an Atom x5-z8350 & 2GB of Ram running Windows 10 Pro. As we just needed it to display a web browser we felt this solution which would free up space as well should do the job. After a few months of 24/7 operation I noticed the fan was starting to fail and temps started to rise. Finding the actual replacement fan didn't seem to be an option due to how proprietary the little fan was. Looking for a USB powered alternative I stumbled across this, took off the case on the W5 and strapped it to the top. Ugly? Sure, but as you can see adding the fan brought temps down from 70/80c to 36c!! With averaging around 55 or so with a moderate work load. As far as acoustics it's fairly silent on the lowest fan speed setting. I experimented with turning the speed up but didn't make that much of a difference. So keeping it on the lowest setting is best. The monitor has a USB port where it pulls power and the nice thing is that it will go to sleep when the monitor does. It is not connected to the compute stick as I didn't want to stress the little device any further. So... great little fan for 10 bucks. Moves a good amount of air, is quiet and has 3 speed settings. I highly recommend it. Review: Great Little Fan! - Dont believe? Trust the plants! If you know begonias, they HATE water sitting in their leaves. Look at how theyre thriving in a high humidity, low vpd enviornment. The fan dries em off before they throw a fit in a pretty large enclosure. I'm using this along with some other ac infinity hardware to keep my GTPs bioactive enclosure in check and so far so good. Outstanding results. I can mist in the mornings, keep the fan on low for air exchange and evaporation and it keeps the VPD, humidity and temps in check on just LOW while I'm at work. Get home and the top of the soil is dry as its supposed to be, bottom remains moist for the clean up crew and he gets his drier period for the day while drying off plant leaves from the misting. It's TINY! But I can believe the 12cfm claim. Does the job in a 4ft tall, 30in deep, 4ft wide enclosure acting as an exhaust fan. ## Features - Compact and energy-efficient USB fan designed various DIY cooling and ventilation projects. - Features a multi-speed controller to set the fan’s speed to optimal noise and airflow levels. - Dual-ball bearings have a lifespan of 67,000 hours and allows the fans to be laid flat or stand upright. - USB plug can power the fan through USB ports found behind electronics and on portable power banks. - Dimensions: 1.6 x 1.6 x 0.8 in. | Airflow: 12 CFM | Noise: 18 dBA| Bearings: Dual Ball ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07CNJ4DYX | | Air Flow Capacity | 12 cfm | | Best Sellers Rank | #10 in USB Fans | | Brand | AC Infinity | | Brand Name | AC Infinity | | Compatible Devices | Devices with USB port | | Cooling Method | Forced air, forced convection | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 1,152 Reviews | | Item Dimensions L x W x H | 0.8"L x 1.6"W x 1.6"H | | Item Highlight | UL-Certified, Dual-Ball Bearings, VR Gear, Aquarium, Roku, Router, Raspberry Pi, Cosplay, Helmet Cooling Ventilation | | Item Weight | 9.07 g | | Manufacturer | AC Infinity | | Material Type | Rubber | | Maximum Rotational Speed | 6000 rpm | | Model | AI-MPF40A | | Noise Level | 18 db | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Part Number | AI-MPF40A | | Power Connector Type | 4-Pin | | Product Dimensions | 0.8"L x 1.6"W x 1.6"H | | UPC | 819137020559 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Voltage | 12 volts | | Wattage | 18 watts | ## Product Details - **Brand:** AC Infinity - **Compatible Devices:** Devices with USB port - **Cooling Method:** Forced air, forced convection - **Material:** Rubber - **Maximum Rotational Speed:** 6000 rpm - **Noise Level:** 18 db - **Power Connector Type:** 4-Pin - **Product Dimensions:** 0.8"L x 1.6"W x 1.6"H - **Voltage:** 12 volts - **Wattage:** 18 watts ## Images ![MULTIFAN Mini, Quiet Compact 40mm USB Fan w/ Speed Controller - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61hGpzdOvML.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ugly yet effective replacement cooling for Intel Compute Stick PC *by D***X on November 5, 2019* As an IT Admin for a small Transportation Company we have a large monitor set up so we can view all of our vehicles out on the road. But semi-loud. *by T***7 on June 29, 2020* 9/10 The fan is great at airflow but does suffer in size. The fan has some noise even when on low. But it does the job well for my PC. The PC I have has no rear exhaust fan so I couldn't fit a full size 120 or 80 millimeter fan in. This 40mm fan fits perfectly fine with the rear vent or grate. No other complaints here. The packaging was great. The packaging was organized and clean. The packaging looked premium and so did the fan. The switch is helpful and the USB plug helps placing the fan easier. I great quality product. Definitely might buy again in the future. ## Frequently Bought Together - AC Infinity MULTIFAN Mini, Compact 40mm x 20mm USB Fan, UL-Certified for VR Gear, Aquarium, Roku, Router, Raspberry Pi, Cosplay, Helmet Cooling Ventilation - AC Infinity MULTIFAN S1, Quiet 80mm USB Fan, UL-Certified for Receiver DVR PlayStation Xbox Computer Cabinet Cooling - AC Infinity Turbo Fan Power Adapter, for MULTIFAN Series USB Fans --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.at/products/63275470-multifan-mini-quiet-compact-40mm-usb-fan-w-speed-controller](https://www.desertcart.at/products/63275470-multifan-mini-quiet-compact-40mm-usb-fan-w-speed-controller) --- *Product available on Desertcart Austria* *Store origin: AT* *Last updated: 2026-10-16*
