Review: Informative SR book - I read all of this book, cover-to-cover, building some of the example test networks along the way. I liked it because: 1) It’s written by the people who had the original SR idea, with lots of explanations, context and insight 2) Emphasis on configuration examples, show outputs and packet captures 3) Readable On the downside: 1) The actual print quality of the CLI examples in my book isn’t very good: many of the emboldened lines are illegible 2) There’s quite a few mistakes, particularly involving references to the diagrams 3) No index I would probably give it nearer to 4.5, the negative points don’t detract much from a very useful book on SR which taught me a lot.
Review: Good technical reference - The other review mentions that the diagrams are blurry, but I didn’t find that. There are a couple of photos at the beginning which don’t work particularly well printed in black and white, but they don’t take away from the book. The information itself is for the most part clear and detailed. Having prior knowledge of the subject matter has helped me get though it however. If there is one thing I will take away from it though, it’s to use the default homogeneous SRGB on any deployment. They harp on about this almost constantly!
