## Overview

Malt: A Practical Guide from Field to Brewhouse is a comprehensive resource detailing the barley-based malting process, enzymatic transformations, and quality control essential to brewing. Authored by industry expert John Mallett, it bridges agricultural science and brewing artistry, making it indispensable for brewers seeking to deepen their understanding of malt’s pivotal role in beer production.

## Description

Brewers often call malt the soul of beer. Fourth in the Brewing Elements series, Malt: A Practical Guide from Field to Brewhouse delves into the intricacies of this key ingredient used in virtually all beers. This book provides a comprehensive overview of malt, with primary focus on barley, from the field through the malting process. With primers on history, agricultural development and physiology of the barley kernel, John Mallett (Bell's Brewery, Inc.) leads us through the enzymatic conversion that takes place during the malting process. A detailed discussion of enzymes, the Maillard reaction, and specialty malts follows. Quality and analysis, malt selection, and storage and handling are explained. This book is of value to all brewers, of all experience levels, who wish to learn more about the role of malt as the backbone of beer.

Review: libro sul malto in inglese - ottimo libro fatto molto bene!
Review: Riviting - My expectations of such books are always low to avoid disappointment and this book certainly isn't that. Like others in the series of Brewers Publications it is skilfully written and in parts even entertaining. These books are a little skewed towards their country of origin (USA) but include the rest of the world. I am sure that some home brewers would complain about some of the content leaning too much towards the industry but I couldn't agree. The parts that consider the 'bigger players' perspective are very enlightening.

Hyper complet pour qui brasse, on y parle même de stockage. Pas besoin d'avoir un anglais langue maternelle pour bien le comprendre
