Spring is strong so my son has to pull pretty strongly to get them to unlatch. They snap in place strong and dont rattle or have a ton of play in the mechanism. I will say if you mount these directly onto something the handle could get in the way and you almost need to weld a spacer in between them. Also the little black cotter pin when you pull the pin in and out will hit whatever it’s welded too so I just grinder them down flush and it worked fine. Putting a heavy drop gate on my trailer and these are heavy and very well made, weld on spring latches. Building a heavy duty lift gate and want to make sure it stays up when moving. These are beasts and will do just fine. I’ll do something outside pictures after mounting them. Still have rail work to do, then adjusting everything before welding, making sure, no mistakes. I do recommend these for heavy gates. There are and this is In my head more uses than just a trailer.
