My firmware doesn’t have the z offset and it works fine. You download the bed level program he includes in the instructions and put on your SD card or load into your printer. It then has you adjust your z-level (default -5.7mm) to account for the height of the tool. Auto home and run the program. It will pause at specific spots on your bed for you to slider the tool under the nozzel. You adjust your bed til the light turns on and then resume the print. Do this on all the spots and you should have a level bed by the end.
