You can slid it on and off over your head without involving the rest of the costume at all. The black collar underneath the hood’s collar (not visible in their picture) is acceptable so the costume still looks good without the hood. **Q: Can the black material tunic be taken off from the front? I’m only interested in the chainmail and shoulder/arm armor part of it.** A: The one I received (OCT-2019) the Black tunic in front is attached to the costume, it is sewn in at the arms.
