Review: Great Guide to the Munros - I bought this book recently as I wanted a change from my old guides. I used it last week on some Munros in the Monadhliath and Cairngorms that I had not climbed before. I found it well written, lively and helpful. It allowed me to anticipate the routes well, and get my timings and pacing right. It helped me get round the Munros well. I also checked what it said on some Munros I'd previously climbed and the descriptions were accurate and clear. I loved the route descriptions and photographs in this book and so have given it five stars. I do however have a reservation that is worth mentioning. I'm not sure the format does this book justice. It is a heavy little brick of a book and I wouldn't take it on the hill with me- too heavy- and would easily get damaged. I think I'd have preferred it in a bigger format and font size- more for reading before and after a walk than its current small size. But this drawback is minor- what we have here is a well written, well illustrated, accurate and helpful guide to the Munros. It will help me with completing my own round of the Munros (216 so far) and I am sure it will many others with their exploration of these hills. Recommended.
