The umbrella did NOT include the solar panel...it was missing & Kohls would do nothing to replace the missing piece ...only offered a “return”. (The thing is HUGE!). **Q: Is the connector male or female?**
A: the connector on the solar receiver is female.
but, i wouldn't waste money buy this.
mine quite charging and i bought this and it worked about 4 days

**Q: , ordered to replace not working cell. Model# compatible. Pin in the center, replacement needs pin on side, any ideas on how to connect?**
A: I replaced my solar cell as well. Lights still did not work.
I bought an D/C to A/C converter and now the lights work using electrical connector from an extension cord connected to my house electricity.

**Q: How can I see the plug?  My umbrella has a plug with 6 holes in it but the model number for the 6 prong is square mine is round.**
A: Hi there,
Ours did not have the 6 plug in ... It was a single prong so the part fit perfectly.  Our prong was round. Perhaps a different model number needed? Hope this helps!

**Q: Does this solar unit require a battery?**
A: the solar unit has 3 rechargeable AA batteries inside the unit.
if your unit has direct sunlight mostly all day long the batteries should stay charged. i do suggest during the cold season of the year to remove the unit from the umbrella and take the unit indoors.

Bought this last year as a replacement to the original solar panel for the Hampton bay 11ft offset umbrella. It worked fine. Removed for the season and placed inside for the winter. Now it does not work. $75 is a lot of money. Very disappointing
