It's of good size and weight to make for a sturdy base. It has rubber mounts for where the iPad rests, giving it some cushion and grip. The bottom has wide rubber feet that help keep the whole stand from slipping. The angles for viewing are not adjustable but they seem to be just right. It holds your iPad at two angles; the upright angle which is good for viewing, and the more shallow angle like that of the tilt of a keyboard, which is a good angle for typing or surfing. You can view your iPad in either portrait or landscape at both of these angles. The loop design does not hamper the use of cables or any of the buttons.Some things to note are that in the upright angle you better have a light touch, especially if pressing at the top of the iPad when it's in the portrait position; the bottom tends to slip out. You can have the same problem, especially in portrait mode, at the shallow angle as well. Both angles are the most secure in the landscape position.I have the Apple iPad case, which is a good quality case (sturdy and functional) that I am pleased with. It fits well in the stand as long as you don't try to tuck the lid into the seat as well. The lid can be flipped around the back, or in front; sitting fairly well in the landscape position where it rests on the stand about a 1/2" out from the base of your iPad.Hope this was useful.UPDATE 1/5/2017: it's been nearly 6 years and I'm still use this stand everyday! It truly has stood the test of time. It works well with the newer Apple iPad covers; I fold my entire cover like an accordion so the entire cover is folded on top of itself in one strip at the base of the iPad and then it sits in this stand with the added thickness making it more secure for the thinner iPad Air and Pro. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for Nexus 7 Gen 2 *by M***L on Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2014* I've heard more than my fair share of complaints about the Griffin Loop not being ideal for newer ipads (iPad 2 or newer) which doesn't bother me, I own a Nexus 7 and it works just fine for that device. I was actually shocked as to how ideal the fit is.This stand accommodates my Nexus in both portrait and landscape viewing angles. The portrait mode in particular is cleverly hidden in the contoured shape of the stand itself with the bottom of the tablet fitting nicely and securely against the Loop's bottom ridge. And even though you probably can't tell by looking at it, the landscape fittings actually allow for tablets to be displayed at two different viewing angles. Placing the tablet straight down produces a near 90 degree position or you can prop the tablet halfway down the opening which somehow holds the tablet securely somewhere between 45 and 60 degrees........though I'm not certain this feature was intended by design or just a matter of me fiddling with the thing.I especially like the broad footprint that this stand has; whilst not exactly portable nor convenient for cluttered workspaces, the wide base does provide for a very stable base for even the largest of tablet designs. The other thing is that the broad base also makes for stable footing on soft, less stable surfaces thus enabling me to strea as a bed, couch or plush carpeting, not many other stands I've tried can do this without toppling over.Now for the downsides, 1) this thing is pretty big and unwieldy so don't plan on tucking it away on a cramped bedside table, it takes up a lot of space and 2) obviously it won't serve double duty as a cell phone stand like my "Griffin Wave Stand for iPad" does. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A perfect stable stand for iPad (4th Generation - retina display) *by C***) on Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2013* Looked at this stand in the Australian Apple Store and purchased from Amazon for 60% less than the local retail price. The stand arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It is compact and light to carry when travelling but nicely weighted and just sticky enough to sit firmly on a benchtop without sliding around when the screen is touched. The iPad fits securely into the cutouts on the stand in either portrait or landscape without wobbling at all. The iPad can also be placed down onto the stand so it is inclined at about 20 degrees and a small lip at the bottom edge, along with the rubber top surface, stops the ipad from sliding down. This makes the stand a very stable inclined base for viewing the iPad on a coffee table or kitchen bench, just like in the Apple Store!I use the Ipad in the stand alongside a Logitech ultrathin keyboard. The stand is definitely more stable than relying on the magnetic slot built into the keyboard (especially in portrait orientation where after touching the screen it sometimes falls out of the keyboard's slot ). The Griffin stand an ideal viewing angle which is much easier to view than the more upright angle built into the keyboard slot. I can also use the keyboard in my lap and sit the iPad in the Griffin stand on a coffee table. Laying the iPad down on the stand when charging also keeps everything tidy and secure.The Griffin Loop stand makes using and viewing an iPad just so much easier. It is very robust and a simple but effective design.
