## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this the Standard version or the Special version?**
A: Comparable in size to the Special, but with more options a little better hardware. For a beginner guitar, the LP 100 won't disappoint. I'm still learning on mine and have been very pleased with the playability and comfort of this sized guitar. To compare the 3 side-by-side... Special II - $180, 8 lbs, no pick guard, dot inlays, 1 volume, 1 tone, 3-way switch, bolt-on neck, Humbucker pickups, Covered tunersLP-100 - $270, 8 lbs, pick guard, dot inlays, 2 volume, 2 tone, 3-way switch, bolt-on neck, Humbucker pickups, Premium die-cast tunersStandard - $400, 8.5 lbs, pick guard, trapezoid inlays, 2 volume, 2 tone, 3-way switch, set neck, Alnico pickups, Grover tuners, Cream binding. The LP Studio is another option to consider:Studio - $360, 8.8 lbs, pick guard, dot inlays, 2 volume, 2 tone, 3 way toggle, Alnico pickups, Grover tunersGood luck picking one out.

**Q: Is this smaller than a gibson lp?**
A: Not quite - its shape is the same as far as build dimensions (looking at it face-forward) but this is much thinner that most Gibson Les Pauls. This would be more in the with the Gibson LP Lite in terms of its thickness.

**Q: Why are there two seperate picture for the Ebony version. there is one completely black with the rythm swich on the bottom. what is the actual design?**
A: The LP-100 has the ivory rhythm switch on top

**Q: Does this guitar come with any tuner or any accessories?**
A: Hi no it did not really come any thing but book on it if want get a tuner get a KORG they work great do cost a lot good one is the GA-1 you Also always find app to. the guitar is nice for what it cost me. Sounds good and have some guitars that cost way more then LP-100 but it has good sound and tone to it... Take care have fun with if get it Ed::))

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ solid great deal for the price
*by on Reviewed in the United States August 12, 2026*

Yeah, so I had a Schecter C-6, this guitar sounds and feels much better than it at almost half the price.I got the ebony one, it's beautiful. nice and solid. good size, the pickups are much better than my Schecter too, they actually 'pick up' the higher strings. I'm enjoying this guitar. thx. Oh also, I saw so many people receiving this guitar with a broken neck, was kinda nervous about that, however mine came in perfect condition.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Guitar For The Price
*by on Reviewed in the United States April 6, 2012*

I am a longtime acoustic guitar player, and I've wanted to play electric for a while now, but I knew I needed to make an decent investment to help motivate me to play. Plus I've never been a big fan of buying a cheap item to start, so i can buy a more expensive one in a year when I out grow it. So when I saw that I could get a Les Paul- albeit it a Epiphone and not a Gibson-for this price I was thrilled. Its worth noting that there is another Epiphone Les Paul that is cheaper. Epiphone LP Special II Les Paul Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst However you will not that there are fewer controls on the guitar. Meaning you loose out on the ability to individually control the tone of the pickups. In my opinion the extra hundred dollars for this guitar is more than worth it. It is worth noting that I purchased this guitar through amazon from American Musical Supply, it did not come with a cable or anything extra, just a guitar in a box.One of the things I didn't know when I bought it, is that even though its made in China-some of them come from Indonesia as I understand it, but mine was made in china so I can't speak to that-it was inspected before packing, to make sure that there was no physical damage to the guitar, that all the hardware worked, and that it maintained its intonations. So in the box you will receive a checklist that someone had to check off to make sure you receive a quality guitar. Its a great starter guitar, in part because of its slimmer body, making it both lighter and a littler easier to play. This is important when you've got a guitar strapped to your shoulder for an hour or more during practice, and gig times. It also is easy to play with the strings that come on it. Which I think are lighter weight then i am used to, but allow you to bend strings easier, which is great because that's an important technique to master-but please, don't over use it.Also don't ever let anyone give you any grief for buying a bolt neck guitar. Yes they are cheaper, but the Tune-o-matic bridge makes up for any difference in the quality of sound you would get. thanks to that handy little bridge the intonation can be adjusted to be perfect all the way up the neck. The guitar sounds even prettier than it looks-which is very pretty-holds a tune, and has given me nothing to complain about. All in all, I would buy this guitar again, and it will take something pretty amazing for me to replace it as my primary electric. Or enough money to afford a Gibson model.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Getting started? Consider these things before you take the plunge.

I wanted to learn how to play, so I bought this guitar along with Rocksmith (separate review on the software) thinking that would be all I'd need. I had visions of getting the guitar delivered, firing up the game, and learning to play something. Boy, was I underselling this little adventure.I like the look of the Les Paul body, and since the closest Gibson dealer is 2 hours away, I decided to look at the local shops first. They sold lots of Fenders (liked the Cabronita Telecaster $500) and Peavey (liked the SC2 Vintage $250). But I didn't know the brands as well. Since I wanted to stay under $300 and figured the Les Paul model would be a good bet for a few bucks more on Amazon, I put in my order.Overall, I love that Amazon got me a deal on a gorgeous guitar. However, I am learning that with sometimes there's a reason for the deals.Pros.- The LP100 is loaded with some nice features. I'm still learning the nuances of the tone controls. The pick-up selector is not in the way.- The Vintage Sunburst looks great. The colors shift depending on the light - deep amber to gold. Gorgeous with the dark fingerboard.- It is a step above the $80-$100 instruments that they sell at the big box stores. The price is right for a serious starter guitar.- It arrived safely in good packaging. No chips, knicks, or marks that I could detect.- The Les Paul size is very manageable. It just feels good to play.- Stays tuned. Initially it didn't, but when I got the fret fixed and the trussrod adjusted, it fixed that issue.Cons- No extras come with this guitar. To set yourself up you're looking at a lot more money. (see equipment ideas below)- Shipping the guitar will put it under some stress. Expect some tuning and possible trussrod adjustments. Epiphone recommends having a licensed guitar tech handle trussrod adjustments. If you mess with it yourself you are at your own risk - over adjustment can seriously damage your guitar.- My guitar arrived out of tune (expected). However, even after tuning it, it wasn't playing right...G# instead of G on E-string at 3rd fret and buzzing on first 3 strings on 3rd fret. Took it to the guitar shop that sold the Peaveys. Two days and about $35 later, he'd fixed the trussrod AND a high fret (something I definitely wouldn't have messed with).- If you order a guitar online, you really should expect to take it to a local shop where a licensed guitar tech can make sure it is set up correctly. Be prepared for that awkward moment when he asks why you didn't buy one from him.Equipment Ideas (regardless of which electric guitar you start with)Since the guitar is all you get, you'll probably want to buy a few extra things. Here are some to consider as part of your start-up cost.- The cheap stuff (around $110 bucks)---- Picks...$5 for an assortment---- Strap...$5 for a basic nylon one---- Chromatic tuner....$20-$30---- Guitar stand....$15-$20---- Gig bag (when traveling)...$30---- Guide/Song book...$20---- Ibuprofen - your fingers are gonna be sore until those calluses build up- The not-so-cheap stuff---- Amp and cable...$150. You don't need an amp starting out, but when you're not doing Rocksmith, you're going to want one. You bought an electric to be LOUD, right?---- Rocksmith software with cable...$60---- Hard case...$100 Alternative to the gig bag after you get better and decide to start playing in front of folks.---- Lessons with a pro - $15-$25 in my area of the Midwest. Assuming 6 months of lessons - every week - $315- $525. A pro will teach you things like proper posture, hand positions, where to hammer the fret, whether or not the pick is your friend, and whether you might be better off playing tambourine. Committing to lessons will also likely get you to practice more - cuz you really don't want to play the tambourine, right?Overall- If you have a Gibson dealer in your area, they may carry this very guitar, I seriously suggest visiting them and seeing if they can sell you the same thing. They may even match Amazon's price. If not, remember that a good dealer should provide free setup and guarantee the guitar is ready to go home. You may be able to work out a package deal on extras if you buy everything from them.- Altogether this little adventure has cost me more than I originally thought it would. I'm glad my guitar is playing correctly now and should last me awhile.
