The knit fabric is stretchy which helps getting the shoe on. There is no cut tongue on the shoe, it is a pull on shape, so there was much pulling to get the shoe on. The first 3 times, shoe was real tight yo get on, especially in the toes. After wearing them for 10 minutes a day for a week now, I have found the shoe is stretching and much easier to put on and wear. I measured my foot and other shoes I owned with a tape measure to compare to Steve Maddens fit size in inches. On the Steve Madden site it does not say if the measurements are for the inner sole, or for the whole shoe. Beware of that for shoe sizing. I measured the outside of a size 6.5 for reference. Very grippy soles, I don't see myself slipping in these! Word of advice: if you have wide feet or even average width size up!
