Polarizer camera filters are used mostly to darken skies on a sunny day -- not to darken the sun. If you're planning to photograph a solar eclipse, you'd do best by getting a special camera lens "solar filter," which will probably set you back $100 or so. You could also get a filter made for a telescope and just hold it over the front of your camera lens to protect it when photographing the sun. When the sun is totally eclipsed you don't need -- or want -- a filter. But once the total phase of the eclipse begins to end and the sunlight starts breaking out, you'll need to quickly put the solar filter back on for protection. **Q: Do these filters disprove the validity of local hidden variables?** A: The wave function keeps collapsing every time I try to measure for a hidden variable **Q: Can I screw in another filter on top of this one?** A: generally you can stack filters of the same filter thread size but too many will degrade the image quality and possibly cause light falloff in the corners. **Q: Will this work with nikon d3400 lens 18mm -55mm?** A: If you're talking about the 18 - 55 lens that comes with the D3400 package, it's a 55 mm filter. The 70 - 300 lens takes a 58 mm filter. ## Frequently Bought Together - Amazon Basics Circular Polarizer Camera Lens Filter - 58 mm - Amazon Basics UV Protection Camera Lens Filter - 58mm - SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card - C10, U3, V30, 4K UHD, SD Card - SDSDXXD-128G-GN4IN --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.at/products/671430963-amazon-basics-58-mm-circular-polarizer-protection-filter-for-deeper](https://www.desertcart.at/products/671430963-amazon-basics-58-mm-circular-polarizer-protection-filter-for-deeper) --- *Product available on Desertcart Austria* *Store origin: AT* *Last updated: 2026-10-28*
