As someone who bakes sourdough regularly, I’ve tried several pans and proofing baskets, but this set is honestly one of the best I’ve used. The 5QT cast iron Dutch oven is heavy, durable, and holds heat beautifully, giving my bread that crisp, golden crust and perfect rise. The lid traps steam exactly the way you want for sourdough. My loaves come out consistently gorgeous. The fact that it includes all the essential sourdough tools—a banneton proofing basket, liner, lame, and accessories—makes it an amazing value. The banneton helps create that classic round shape, and the lame is sharp and easy to control, so scoring designs is effortless. I also love that the Dutch oven is versatile enough to use for soups, roasting, and everyday cooking, not just baking. If you’re just getting into sourdough or want to upgrade your setup, this kit has everything you need in one purchase. Highly recommend—this is truly a great bread-making bundle
Review: Great choice. Value for money - Very well made and comes with many extras (though no sling as noted by others - this can cause confusion as it is designated in the owners manual. I use parchment paper). Note: in initial heating cycle I recommend leaving top separate from base as the lid to base seal is very good and burn-off fumes will get trapped. This can be pretty stinky. Works well for small to medium large size loaves. Very worth while purchase if you are into baking bread. BTW- can also possibly be used for oven cooking and brazing as base is about 2-3/4' deep. UPDATE: I do not recommend following the recipes in the owner's manual. I have tried the raisin bread recipe 3 times and it never comes out. Liquid to dry ingredient ration results in too dry a dough. I will not rise properly.
