Hope this helps. **Q: is the interior smooth or grooved?** A: It is Grooved, which makes cleaning sometimes difficult , but nothing a good vinegar rinse wont get out. **Q: where is this made?** A: Either the webpage is wrong or manufacturer changed because I just bought this Aug 2022 and the box says made in china. I specifically purchased this mortar and pestle because it said it was made in Taiwan. Very disappointed. Would love to hear from seller. **Q: How deep is the inside of the mortar?
