The machine runs smoothly, it is quiet at low to medium speed and not impossibly loud at fastest speed. The pedal action allows for perfect control, better than what I had with another famous name brand prior to this one. The only negative is the tool box: it is designed in such a way that any small accessories you want to keep in there must be contained in a plastic bag or they will fall off of the machine and all over your table. Why?? It really does not make sense, very poor design of this small but important part of the machine. That's the reason for giving this machine only 4 stars instead of 5, which is what it feels like when you sew on it.
