### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Comfortable for flat-footed big guy
*by on Reviewed in the United States May 7, 2026*

My efforts to find Saucony Guide 14 shoes on Amazon in size 14 has gotten tougher and tougher. I always liked those because of the hard plastic support built into the instep that was wonderful for keeping plantar fasciitis at bay. I finally decided to move on with my life and try something new... purchased a pair of Guide 18s.In short: these are comfortable shoes with decent arch support (note: I don't have much of an arch, so the moderate built in arch support is sufficient) ... and that is further facilitated by the generous and forgiving midsole. These shoes are my daily drivers, and I spend all day on my feet walking on hard surfaces and stairs. So far, so good. This model is a bit more narrow than the older Guide 14s or 15s, the toe box is on the smaller side, and they do NOT have that hard plastic insert that kept the shoe from flexing twisting. I'm doing a lot less trail running than 10 years ago, and more "campus stair walking"-- so it's working out. If I was running 1/2 marathons or 10Ks, I would definitely go up a size to account for foot swelling and wider, flatter feet.Black is a pretty neutral color, and these are not flashy like some of those combo Chernobyl Orange and Three Mile Island Green designs of the past. Modest for work, and functional for LISS, dog walking, hill walking, and treadmill at the gym.A couple weeks in and the "There's Something About Mary" smile white of the midsole and sole are definitely showing the dirty world I tread. However, the soles are holding up pretty well so far. We will see if these wear in the usual spots for an overpronating dude of 6'3".Happy with my purchase, better price than any local running shoe store.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Wonderful New "Ride"
*by on Reviewed in the United States June 5, 2026*

I've been a runner for over 50 years. Most of my miles occurr in ASICS DS Trainers - a combination racing flat with a little support and a little cushioning. My "Guide 18" shoes are my first forray into contemperary cushioned, light-weight general purpose rrunning shoes. The first time I put them on and tried them out indoors, I almost returned them. The heels are lower than the rest of the sole. This caused me to rock back when standing. Fortunately I researched the "Guide 18s" and discovered that they required some 'getting used to'. My first run was pure delight coupled with surprise. The "Guide 18" shoes are as light as racing flats from a decade ago. The cushioning is cloud-like. The support is uncanny. I am a mild pronator and a heavy heel striker. With all my past shoes, the inside rear of the heal was chronically scuffed, and every 20 miles I needed to coat the scuff area with shoe repair adhesive. I've put quite a few miles on my "Guide 18s" now and all the wear is evenly distributed - no repair adhesive needed yet; the stability feature must be working. The fit, by the way, is consistent with the advertised sizing. Summarizing: Durable, well-fitting, stable, light, comfortable, and a fine value for the money.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic fit - but wear out too quickly
*by on Reviewed in the United States November 23, 2025*

Update April 2025:I am disappointed that around the 5 month mark, the mesh upper in the big toe area is developing a hole. I always wear socks and I am not a runner so it’s really disappointing that this hole has started. I’ll have to rethink my next purchase because at this price point (for a non runner) - I would think the upper would be much more durable. I have to take it down a star. The rest of my original review stands.Original review:Been struggling a couple of years with foot pain and numbness in ball of feet and then recently a toe started hurting too. Almost like a hammertoe. I was using an inexpensive shoe from that popular brand that uses the memory foam insoles for the past couple of years. They are extra wide or 4E. The problem with these shoes are the memory foam insole becomes flat quickly (not good as I have flat feet), and the shoes also have a high “drop” which is problematic. The uppers on these cheap shoes are also not very flexibly to allow for toes to wiggle and the soles are not very “cushy”. The high drop (12mm) causes the foot to always shift toward the front of the shoe essentially jamming the toes into the toe box area constantly. These Saucony shoes remedy all those issues! The 4e is nice and wide, flexible upper with toe wiggle room, medium drop of 6mm, good quality insole and cushy sole but not super bouncy like some premium brands. My feet feel better after two days in these! Shoes do matter! And note that doing research on why wide and extra wide sizes are so much harder to find I found that a great percent of buyers actually buy medium but need a wide. Which translates to lower demand for wider sizes! Do yourself a favor and get your foot measured (running shoe stores are best) before you “run” into foot problems like I did from too narrow a shoe for too many years!
