Dig four holes 6 to 9 inches and fill with concrete. These will act as bases for the pillars. Make sure the area of concrete will big enough to accommodate the fixing brackets supplied. **Q: Can this be installed on natural stone?** A: Ours is installed on a patio made up of riven sandstone (natural) slabs. It has been in place for 18 months with no problem. We had no problems drilling into the slabs to enable us to fix the bolts supplied , fix pillars. **Q: How do the uprights attach to the ground?** A: L shaped brackets supplied which screw into upright and are then fixed to hardstanding. These are then covered by wooden finishers.
