## Description

When your sliding door mortise lock is broken or old, don’t replace the door entirely, just get a new mortise lock! This PRIME-LINE E 2014 Mortise Lock has an adjustable, spring-loaded hook latch projection for surface-mounted sliding patio doors constructed of wood, aluminum and vinyl with handle sets with 45-degree angled keyway positions when in the locked position. It also fits doors using W&F manufactured handles. The mounting hole centers of this lock measures 3-11/16 in. from center to center, and the rear housing corners are square. Selection Tip: To ensure the perfect match is selected prior to purchasing, the lock will need to be removed to compare the following 4 features (besides the width of housing): 1) The distance of the mounting holes measured from center to center, 2) The faceplate ends; rounded or square, 3) The position of the slotted keyway when in the locked position; at 45-degree angle or vertical, and 4) The shape of the housing corners at the rear; square or slanted. Installation Tip: Watch the manufacturer’s How-To Video that is linked to this item page.

Review: Cheap - Looked ok, and fitted relatively easy. Problem was, when the patio door was locked, and you moved the handle, the hook would move back, leaving about 10mm play from side to side, even though it was locked. Ended up throwing it in the bin, and bought one from a locksmith’s, which was perfect.
Review: Hey! My mother in laws door works again. This lock looks, fits, and functions exactly as it should, albeit with a bit stiffer motion. Now that they can lock the door when out of the house, things are a bit more secure. Its very easy to install...unless you drop it down inside the door. I mean, that may have happened. If it DOES fall inside, that adds a couple more steps. Frist, remove the inside and outside door handles. Take out the two screws that hold the lock in place, then slide it out. On new one, extend the locking latch to give you something to hold. Fish it back inside the opening, line up the holes, and reinstall the two screws, put the handles back on. That's it. If you DID let it fall inside the door, you need to take the whole door off the track. On the bottom of each side, there are two screws. The bottom one adjusts the height of the wheels that roll on the track, while the top locks in that adjustment. To take off the door, loosen the top screw, then adjust the bottom screw all the way down, repeat on the other side. Lift up on the door, pulling the whole thing up and off the track, then stand it up on its side, handle side up. You'll need to take out the track slider on the latch side by removing those two screws. We used a straightened metal clothes hanger to push the latch back to where it should be, then used the hook end of the hanger to lift it enough to screw it in place. Put the handle and slider back on. To get the door back on, slip the top of the door into the top of the channel, then lift from the sides to get the slider wheels on the proper track. You'll need to adjust the height and square of the door again by means of the bottom screw. This has to be raised evenly or the door will not be square, meaning if you make 5 full turns on the left side, you'll need to make 5 full turns on the right. If the height isn't right, the door wont roll easily and the latch will not slide into the frame opening. One you get the height set, tighten the top screw to lock each side in place. Do you see how much easier it would have been if you (I) had just held on to the latch while putting it on? 5 minute fix turned into a half hour. Hindsight. Good times.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: My mortise is broken, how do I know if 45degree or straight lock?**
A: The only way to know for sure is to remove the handle and look. You probably have a better than 99% chance that you need the 45° one. The only time I ever see the 90ﾟ lock is when people buy the wrong one and force it to work.

**Q: Does this include a key?**
A: No, our unit did not include a key. It's for a patio slider (at least that's what we used it for) and locks by use of a lever going up or down (on the inside of your door) ~ No keys involved.

**Q: What is the functional difference between the vertical and the 45 degree lever? If I put a 45 degree in a slot meant for a vertical what will happen?**
A: The chance of you needing the 90 degree version are very small. I use these locks a lot, and I haven't used a 90 in many years.
The only times I see them at all is when someone should have the 45 but buys the 90 by mistake. I would bet less than 1% of doors need the 90 degree version.

**Q: Does this fit into a round or square cutout?**
A: Faceplate is Round and fits rounded cutout.
