Review: Exceptional Book! Helped to pass PgMP on the first try. Kudos to authors for significantly minimizing prep related suffering! - Exceptional book.. Huge thank you to authors for creating the solid guide. Questions in the book are very close to those in the exams, and the book picks up on about 70% to 80% of tricky/non straightforward patterns used in some of the questions. It took me about 2 months to write application, have some back and forth with the content, and to figure out what to unlearn and how to study - and 3 (!) days to prepare using this book. Do not recommend to use any materials on the net - as most of them are severely outdated, and out of touch with what is asked in the exam. Recommendations for exam takers: 0. Get this book. While it is on its way (for me the shipment took a bit more than 5 days), do the following: 1. If you have ever been a program manager - forget everything you know. Exam is not based on the real world experience. Unlearning is a key, and more importantly - knowing what to unlearn (see below). 2. Take PgMP Examination Content Outline (ECO), split every task (e.g. in Excel) into: Prerequisite | Action | Outcome.. and learn it by heart.. it will take you about 2-3 days of constant reading / memorizing to know which content is off. 3. Read the standard for program management (once), ensure that it is a hard copy - to highlight key items with the highlighter. Ensure that you pay the utmost attention to: - Definition of documents (e.g. what do they do, in which sequence they are completed) - Contents of documents - (new - not included in the book) Be clear which documents are either inputs to the status report, or which information elements are used for status reporting After almost memorizing ECO - you will focus on the right things in the Standard. 4. After you are done - read each chapter in the book (they are short) - they will very much help to understand different / at times inconsistent terminology between ECO and the Standard. Also, chapters give you an "angle" from which you can view the questions. If you face question regarding the area of inconsistency on the exam - I would use the information mentioned in the ECO. And of course take sample questions after each chapter. 5. Take the test questions at the end of the book. If you are good with timing yourself on tests - I would recommend answering a batch of 5-10 questions, and then checking whether the answers are correct. For each possible answer - the book has fairly detailed description to clarify whether it is right or not. 6. Exactly as authors recommend - keep taking questions before you have 80% score or higher. Again - this is an exceptional book, very well thought out, it picks up on questions asked during exam very well, and builds the skills / outlook exactly required to pass the exam. Recommendations to make this book even better: - When I was studying - it was difficult to make sense out of the sequence of activities / artifacts. While Standard + ECO are sometimes vague/mutually conflicting - it would be very helpful to see a visual map that summarizes artifacts. When preparing for the test - ensure that you document it based on what you read in the Standard and ECO - On the actual exam I found a bit more emphasis on: 1) sequence of tasks - as outlined in ECO 2) questions regarding contents of documents 3) more questions regarding status reporting - e.g. which documents contain the info used in the status reporting. - And.. this is asking too much - but another 170 questions would be very helpful. However - even 170 questions is enough to prepare and pass. More recommendations for the test takers: 1. Ensure that you get this book. If you are considering PgMP - you are subjecting yourself to a lot of pain and needless pondering regarding conflicting information without this book. 2. Do not laugh (or cry) when before entering the exam they will search you with the metal detector ("bravo" Prometric!!) 3. Time yourself right during the exam... allocate about 1 minute per question. Since the test is 4 hours - this will leave you a bit of time to go back to marked questions. 4. Do not forget to thank authors (Jean and Martial) - they did contribute to your success! They spent a lot of time, effort and energy to write this truly insightful, practical and highly useful book - to pass your PgMP!
Review: Very practical guide and well-conceived questions. Great work! - 4.5 stars The outlines are very good with a well-conceived, practical structure and flow to the book. There were a couple of minor errors within the test questions but nothing of note. The questions, overall, were well-conceived, logical, and mirrored the real exam. This is a very helpful and solid guide. I like using multiple sources for exam questions and basic outlines but could have used Mr. Gouix and Bellec's book the lone choice for a guide.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The right tool for the job; better than the others by far
*by C***S on February 27, 2016*

I just passed the PgMP exam today and on the first try. This study guide out of the 3 I used was by far the most useful and closely modeled after the exam. The summarizations throughout the chapters are quite useful and clear. The question and answer exercises have good and sometimes entertaining explanations for right and wrong selections. This book along with your own tools and techniques for success are a great combination. Thank you for this solid resource.
