There was no configuring that had to be done. There is a sheet that comes with it with different bar codes on it to scan to adjust its functions. For example if you want it to stay on scan continuously, you scan one of the bar codes on the included sheet for that function for it to do that. It may sound a bit odd but once you see the sheet then you'll understand. I also took a picture of the sheet to see if I could scan the codes from the picture on my phone and it work...and it did. I took a picture in case I misplaced the paper. My only issue is I wish the sound was louder.
