The 1B has a gold cast color display and the world pictogram is green color. The text screened on the 1B is gold color. In conclusion the difference is minor cosmetics - a matter of personal preference. It's up to you whether the minor cosmetic difference is worth the $10 price difference. I have both and feel that the display contrast with the cheaper 1A variant is better. **Q: Does is have a 24 hour (military time) function?** A: Yes. I set mine to work on 24-hour time.
