## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can it be used to grown vegetables like spinach or kale?**
A: I would think you could, especially at the start. I am growing a mango from seed.

**Q: Is this any good for a crested gecko set up ?**
A: Hello this is what it says on Google hope it helps. Coconut Coir (or Eco Earth)
While using coconut fiber as a general substrate has its downsides, there is no issue when you use coco as a moist hide substrate. Coco holds moisture well and will not get moldy easily. Leos will gladly dig and even lay eggs in this substrate. I use it for Giant African land snails.

**Q: Is this ok for indoor rabbits to dig in**
A: Once rehydrated it will be fine for rabbits to duig in. Just use the minimum amount of water needed.

**Q: How much water for one brick?**
A: Approximately 2.5 to 3 litres of water per brick . You will need a large waterproof container or bucket . If you don’t add enough water it will be a little dry - you can always add more . If you add too much it’s not a problem , leave the coir outside for a while and it will evaporate.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Quality Coco Coir - Compact & Great for Houseplants!
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 12 May 2025*

This Coco & Coir is fantastic stuff! I bought it for creating my own potting mixes for houseplants, especially my tropicals, and it's been brilliant. One of the things I love is how compact the bricks are for storage – they save so much room compared to traditional bags of compost. I just rehydrate one brick at a time as needed, which is really easy to do, and then keep the expanded coir in a sealed tub ready for use.The bricks are really clean – no unwanted bits or pieces – and they expand to a surprisingly large amount of coir. A little definitely goes a long way! Mixed with a couple of other ingredients, it creates a beautifully light and airy substrate that my plants are loving. The fact that it's organic and peat-free is a huge bonus too.It provides great aeration and decent water retention, which is ideal for keeping roots healthy. Really pleased with the quality and will be my go-to for coir from now on.Pros:~ Very clean and high-quality coir.~ Space-saving brick form – easy to store.~ Expands significantly, great value.~ Perfect for creating airy, well-draining potting mixes.~ Organic and peat-free.~ Easy to rehydrate one brick at a time.Cons:~ None at all, it's top-notch!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good for bulking up substrate
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 19 March 2024*

As an environmentally-conscious gardener, I've been on the lookout for sustainable alternatives to traditional growing mediums, and the Coco Coir Blocks x6 have exceeded my expectations in every aspect. The first thing that caught my attention is the eco-friendly nature of these blocks. Made from the fibrous husks of coconuts, they are a renewable and biodegradable alternative to peat moss and soil. Knowing that I'm reducing my carbon footprint while nurturing my plants brings me immense satisfaction.Upon hydrating the blocks, I was impressed by their expansion capacity. Each compact block expands to a generous volume of nutrient-rich coconut coir, providing ample growing space for my plants. This not only saves storage space but also ensures that I have a sustainable, long-lasting growing medium at my disposal. One of the standout features of Coco Coir is its excellent water retention and aeration properties. Unlike traditional soil, which can become compacted and waterlogged, coco coir maintains the perfect balance of moisture and air, promoting healthy root development and preventing water-related issues such as root rot.Furthermore, Coco Coir is naturally resistant to pests, pathogens, and fungal growth, providing a clean and sterile environment for my plants to thrive. This reduces the need for chemical pesticides and fungicides, aligning with my commitment to organic gardening practices.I've also found Coco Coir to be incredibly versatile. Whether I'm starting seeds, transplanting seedlings, or growing mature plants, it adapts seamlessly to various stages of the growing process. Its neutral pH ensures compatibility with a wide range of plant species, from delicate herbs to robust vegetables. In terms of value, the Coco Coir Blocks x6 offer unbeatable bang for the buck. With six blocks in each package, I have an ample supply to last through multiple growing seasons. Considering its durability and reusability, it's a wise investment for any gardener looking to maximize their yields while minimizing their environmental impact. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Coco Coir Blocks x6 to fellow gardeners who are seeking a sustainable, high-performance growing medium. Its eco-friendly nature, exceptional water retention, pest resistance, and versatility make it a must-have for anyone looking to cultivate healthy, thriving plants while treading lightly on the planet.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use, great value and No flies
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 21 April 2025*

Great quality and easy to use. I have been using it mainly for houseplants and have had no issues. I get a big bucket (I’ve added a photo as you need quite a big bucket as it makes a fair amount of soil) and then add rainwater from my outdoor water butt and then just mix with big wooden spoon until it is moist and crumbly. I’ve also had no problems with soil flies that you sometimes get with soil. It’s very convenient as the bricks are easy to store and move about esp if you had a a flat you don’t need to humph huge bags of soil about that weigh a ton. I’ve added a photo of some Rosemary I’ve taken cuttings from and all seem healthy. Only drawback is once you have ‘made’ soil you would either need to use it all or find some way of storing it. I tend to wait till I need to repot multiple plants so I can use an entire brick up.
