Review: in some ways better than the real thing - So this is my second Eafengrow knife, my first being a titanium frame lock which is a reminiscent of the sebenza. Unlike that knife I own both this version and the actual Marfione/Strider Microtec DOC. So instead of simply reviewing this knife as it is, ill compare. it to the 400US original as well. The interesting thing is while a lot of the design changes vis a vis the original are clearly cost based (given the 13 fold difference in price) some of the modification actually improve the EF335. 1) size. the general dimensions are very close, the DOC has about .25" more belly in the blade, giving it a very exaggerated curvature. I prefer the slightly less bowed blade profile on the EF335 2) Grind: the DOC has a completely nutty (and not perfectly executed) nightmare grind. I always found nightmare grinds functionally pointless, they are showy, harder to sharpen and offer nothing to cutting performance. Nightmare grinds are hard to execute for sure and likely beyond the skill level of the makers doing the grinds on the EF335. the result is a standard saber grind with an aggressive tops swedge, its well executed and frankly in my view a better performing blade shape. 2) Steel. ok the DOC wins, at least from the perspective of being exotic. the DOC has Elmax, the EF335 has D2 which 10 years ago was the state of the art for these things, and is still an awesome steel. less stain resistant than the Elmax but will be way easier to sharpen 3) Materials and assembly: So the DOC had these machined triangle pivots, if you wanted to adjust the pivot or back spacer posts you had to buy a dedicated pivot tool from microtec. the EF335 has similar (although less complex) triangle pivot and post machining but they include the pivot tool!! the microtec. the Microtec has an machined aluminum static side scale and titanium frame lock side with a milled aluminum back spacer. the EF335 is all G10, including the back spacer. It Is set up as a liner lock, it has nested steel liner (like the first gen para militaries) which is a nice touch as it reduces weight a lot. some folks commented that the liner lock bar on the EF335 is a bit thin (while others still commented it was too hard to disengage, which I did not find to be the case). I think the lock bar is pretty standard thickness but is dwarfed by the thickness of the blade. Either way the the lock bar is more than adequate, unless you are using the knife for activities well outside the normal range of pocket knives. Lastly the Clip: this is Huge the DOC famously had the very oversize "Marfione FU" clip. it was a pocket clip so large and with such an aggressive angle at the end that it made the knife uncomfortable to hold in any position. The EF335 has a way better shaped clip which fixes the DOC clip problem. All in all an exceptional value.
Review: Bought this for the tool. - I actually purchased this knife a long time back but never received it. Got a refund. I had a screw come loose in my microtech and wanted a tool, remembering this knife came with one and it was still available. I figured, $10 for a tool or $27 for a knife and tool...so I bought it. I'm well aware that this is a rip off of a microtech-strider collaboration design. The tool worked on my microtech, it didn't mar up the hardware so that's great. The knife itself is actually really nice looking and for $27 it's a great camping or beater knife. The blade steel says D2 but I'd bet it's that cheap Chinese steel all Chinese Kershaws use, which is not great. I'd say a step below 440 in characteristics. But, it's cheaper than anything comparable from Kershaws Chinese knives. The blade stock is almost 1/4", or it is 1/4", it's thick! The blade is beautifully ground, to me looks to be hand ground and not machined, or machined and hand finished because of the lines not being exactly matching on both sides. Not something that detracts from the function, just an observation. The forward choil is rounded and comfortable. Most of the squared edges are sharp on this knife. The handle it's more an issue than the blade but an easy thing to fix with sand paper. The handles are not g-10, they are some sort of hard plastic that has a similar appearance from a molded pattern. Without touching them, they do look very similar to g-10. Again, I don't think it really matters at this price point. They are stiff and thick. The nested liner lock is sharp and uncomfortable to actuate, however lock up looks fine. Would I trust it? I really like my fingers so probably not. Knives aren't generally designed to be used in such a way that would cause the lock to fail, so it's not really an issue. If it did fail and your fingers were in the way, the weight of the blade is liable to cause a multi-stitch gash or amputation. It's sharp, don't know if they all come this sharp but I'm happy with the factory edge. The flipper tab works with deliberate force but a lazy flip won't get it. This knife is really smooth and has a good detent, I just think the weight of the blade keeps it from flying out under relaxed flipping. Give it some grunt and it'll damn near fly out of your hand. The thumb stud works well and the copied design is pretty good. Very good traction. They work as external stop pins and butt up against the nested liners for extra support. The pocket clip is awful. Its recessed into the handle which is cool but it's super tight. Ideally for a knife that weighs this much, a belt sheath would be a better option. All in all, I wouldn't be embarrassed to give this to a friend, well one who isn't into knives anyway. It's beefy, decently put together and looks pretty sweet. I plan to beat on it and see how it holds up.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Big boi, but can put in work for a pocket knife.

I want to start off by saying, this knife, as others have said, is big. Out of the 20 knives I currently used for EDC this is by far the biggest and heaviest. The pocket clip is good, but you might need to customize the angle of the flare of the pocket clip if you so desire. It is not a deep pocket carry, but it is suitable enough. It is sharp out of the box, I have yet to strop or hone the blade at all, but your mileage might vary. The detent for this knife is substantial, almost on par with my Twosuns knife. IT may take some getting used to but nothing overly tough to open. The first few opens may be a little stuff but most knives, regardless of price, will always have a break in period. The knife is a Liner lock, And does indeed come with its own tool, BUT, keep in mind the tool, will allow you to tighten or loosen the pivot screw, but mine did not have the correct sized part for the body and pocket clip screws. So keep that in mind and make ready to find a suitable tool. So far the knife performs as it should. It is Sharp, it doesnt its job, it is D2 steel, and it is robust enough to do some heavier tasks something along the lines of a Mini praxis might not fully be up to. all in all I think the knife is great, and in my case, I wanted to know if I liked the look, feel, and weight of a Strider, without commiting to Strider budget. but for a knife that is very similar, I say go ahead and get it for you, if you enjoy larger knives.
