The pages are stiff enough to be easy for them to manage, but no so stiff as to be hard to cut. It is a bit basic for my 4 year old, so it's more a toy than educational for her, but I'll still buy more when they've finished chopping up this one because they enjoy it so much and it keeps them busy. The books are sequential -- kids practice cutting simple lines, then curves, etc before moving onto more sophisticated projects. The pictures are really cute and colorful and the projects are interesting to preschool aged children.
