It is also useful in keeping critters from entering the attic. Sometimes I also use spray can insulation foam mixed in or sprayed on top of steel wool that I have jammed into areas where the floor meets the walls. Though rodents find many creative ways to access houses--and I still need to use traps sometimes---I find the steel wool method rather successful.
