I'd be scared it would take off the old polish or damage the surface. I have a Georgian oak table and love the build-up** A: TBH I haven't used the wire wool yet, but assume that where there is a severe discontinuity (e.g. dent) between undamaged and damaged surface areas on a piece of furniture, you can use the wire wool to smooth and reduce the edge before going on to disguise and polish the flaw. **Q: Can you use the wax directly onto french polish surfaces?.** A: I applied the polish to my table but because it had been lacquered it didnt perform well. Therefore, I sanded the table back to bare wood, it was then sealed twice using Hardwax Oil, the final application was 3 coats of Gilboy’s polish with buffing in between coats and leaving overnight to allow the product to soak in. Hope this helps. **Q: What is the volume of each tin, would there be enough to do a grandfather clock?** A: 80ml in each tin. And yes there is enough to wax polish a grandfather clock. Please feel free to ask any other questions. kind regards Simon ## Frequently Bought Together - Gilboys Beeswax Polish Starter Kit - Gilboys Hard Wax Oil - Interior Wood Finish - 500ml - All Natural, Quick Drying, Water & Heat Resistant - Perfect for Sealing & Finishing Kitchen worktops, Stairs, Floors, Doors & Dining Tables… - Gilboys 'Pure Gold' Premium Beeswax Furniture Polish (125ml) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.at/products/74092821-gilboys-beeswax-polish-starter-kit](https://www.desertcart.at/products/74092821-gilboys-beeswax-polish-starter-kit) --- *Product available on Desertcart Austria* *Store origin: AT* *Last updated: 2026-10-17*
