The containers can withstand temperatures from -4 degrees Fahrenheit to 210 degrees Fahrenheit and are suitable for freezer, microwave* (reheating only) and dishwasher (top rack). The base and lid should not be used in the oven, under the burnt elements, or on the stove. Another thoughtful design detail includes the fact that the containers can nest together. You can stack them on top of them with the lids in place. Especially useful when space is limited. * Open all 4 latches and loosen the lid before using in the microwave. Detailed Features: Patented block hole system. Consistent flow of resin. Does not produce weld lines along the hinges. Resin flow is inconsistent - weld lines appear over time. The Lock&Lock Classic lid features four side flaps or "wings" and a slight hinged end flared for easy grip when opened. More importantly, it has a hole (rectangular opening) that aligns with knobs at the base of the container to easily secure the lid to the base and hold it in place. This patented block hole system maintains the integrity of the lid and promotes a locked-in container with ease. The four wings of the lid have a hole that aligns with the base. No welding line is formed around the hinged piece. The hinges are designed to be shorter in length to prevent stiffness when opening and closing. The blue hollow silicone band on the lid provides a tight, leak-proof seal. Special Silicone In addition to the block-hole system, the Classic Food Storage Container features a blue hollow silicone ring on the lid for an airtight, leak-proof seal. Typical silicone does not compress with a solid center and does not have the same repairing power as hollow center silicone, meaning that the seal is inferior.
