Review: Good instrument - The image quality is really good. There is a little bit of a lag in the video, but that is permissible. Note that there are two models in this microscope, one says B and the other does not. Since my laptop did not have a CD-Drive, I had to download the software from the net. That is when I realized that there are two versions of the microscope, and you need different software for each. Setting up the microscope was easy. The rack-and-pinion system in the stand could have been a little sturdier, but the current one will do the job for most routine usage. Only issue is that there are two clips on the stage. While important for examining flat objects, they create an issue if one needs to examine a plate, which is my usage. So I will have to remove the clip and sand the two protrusions to which they are attached. While not a major issue, I would have been happier if the clips were removable more easily and the protrusions were not there. However, this is not a deal-breaker at all. Overall, for the price, the image quality is really good. I have much more expensive microscopes with me (~3 lakhs+) from highly reputed multi-national companies. The image quality of this will easily compare with those. Check the attached picture that shows Drosophila eggs at close to the minimum magnification of the instrument. So happy with the purchase.
Review: superb clearity and ease of use - Very nice hand held microscope. I have purchased it for lab work which involves detecting the crack in metallic specimens. it does the intended work quite well. Image are very sharp and we can measure the crack growth quite accurately. I would recommend this product. features are quite well thought. we can set the timing and it takes photograph automatically. only grouse is we can take only 99 snaps in one go. then we have to reset the things.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: If I press the edge of the microscope flat against a thin piece of paper, I can get only 85x magnification. That's on a 27 inch monitor. Why?**
A: This is a confusing issue and the vendors aren't helping with their 2BazillionX magnification claims. In reality you are looking at focal lengths as far as "real" magnification goes and display size as far as "apparent" magnification goes. For real magnification what we are doing is focusing an image on a sensors surface. If we are closer to the subject we are going to cover more sensor surface with the image. This is measured in aspect ratio. If my focused image is the same size on the sensor surface as the subject itself the aspect is 1:1. If the image size is half the life size it's .5:1, etc. So with a 1:1 ratio a 1" subject would yield a 1" image on the sensor surface. 1:1 is usually considered nirvana for macro (super closeup) photography. You can "blow up" a 1:1 image a whole lot without it blurring. This is where the "monitor size" blather comes in. The more dots (pixels) the sensor had the more I can expand my display and still see good detail in the image. (Take a printed image and a decent magnifying glass and you will see the dots) If I expand my display size too much it will blur to the point it's useless to my eyes because my 'dots' are too far apart.

The gist of this is that you change true magnification by moving the focus point (focal plane) closer or farther from the image sensor in the microscope. For the scopes smallest image size (lowest magnification) raise the scope body higher and use the focus/zoom wheel on the scope to focus the image. For the largest image size (magnification) you want to get as close to the subject as you can. Then the maximum "magnification" (display size) you use is simply determined by the number of pixels the sensor has. This scope has 5 million. That's a bunch! The photos you get will display well on a projector screen for an audience. As for true magnification this scope will focus down to the point the clear plastic hood touches the subject. This yields about 67X - which is really good for what you paid. Just a few years ago we would be discussing thousands of dollars (and Celestron products) to get clear images this size.

I hope this info helps, it should be useful in understanding the measurement function of the software as well. The measurement function is really great for teaching purposes!

**Q: Hi. Is there anyone who want to make an experiment for me? Can you see any algae or any kind of life in a drop of water?**
A: Depending upon the magnification, many "things" can be seen in a drop of pond water. http://www.microworldsphotography.com/Galleries/Microscopic-Creatures/i-cKDFwMC

**Q: Can the lighting intensity be varied?**
A: Yes. There is a dial on the USB cord that allows you to adjust the intensity. The dial will allow you to turn the light completely off.

**Q: Can the magnification vary between 20X & 200X or is it just two fixed magnifications? For example can you magnify 50X or 80X?**
A: The zoom is continuous, no fixed magnification levels between maximum and minimum.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for Insect Studies.
*by A***Y on 22 April 2021*

Hi everyone! I am an Entomologist and I study insects. For this reason I bought this microscope. I always needed one stereomicroscope for studying insects but that's not affordable (very high price ...around lakhs...a good one.). So I was searching for a better option and found this. Many foreign Scientist and researchers use this for teaching Grad students and it is best for it. The reason for buying this microscope is that--- 1.) You can measure your study object with its software which can be downloaded from the Celestron website (mentioned and provided in the box ) 2.) Small and handy 3.) Picture quality is best than anyother digital Microscopes in its range. 4.) You can take pictures and videos with it. Some problems which I faced is that.... 1.) No eye piece and can used only by connecting with the laptop/computer 2.) Cannot use with the phone as software only work with the laptop. 3.) Without the software it won't work 4.) Also while downloading the software two models is given 44308 and 44308 B ..my model is the first one but it didn't worked rather the 2nd model software worked. 5.) The maximum Light exposure of it is less what I felt after clicking images. so I used photoshop to brighten the images.
