**Q: Which polish is the base?**
A: Neither are the base. The bottle on the left (the coated bottle) is the gel polish which requires an LED lamp to cure. The bottle on the right (the translucent, see through bottle) is the lacquer which is traditional air dry nail polish. You use them separately, not together, ever. You need to purchase the Base and Top Gel separately to use the gel color to complete a 3-Step Gel System. Base gel, Gel Color, then Top Gel.

I absolutely love DND polishes, gel or regular. Their quality is consistently good. However, this color (Fudgecicle), is NOT brown at all, it is burgundy. The pictures clearly show brown, but after 3 coats, it is just still a dark burgundy color. I am pretty disappointed because I was looking for a dark rich brown for fall, and this is not it.(I know my application isnt perfect, I was just doing a color check for my next manicure.)
