I opens quickly when actuated from a standard sprinkler controller, and closes reliably when the sprinkler controller removes power. It has standard 1/2" pipe threads and installs easily. It's worth noting that this valve does not have a way to manually activate it, but I can use the manual mode of the sprinkler controller for that. They are still working so this one is sitting on the shelf "just in case." I installed this as a soap valve on my pressure washer along with a wireless remote that I also purchased from Amazon. This keeps me from having to walk to my pressure washer to turn the soap on or off. I can just pull the remote out of my pocket and press the button. The valve opens when you apply 12v dc. It automatically closes when you turn the 12v dc off.
