I got right to work, heavily spraying my powder room with this product. I followed the woman's advice and did not rinse it off after applying it. (You only have to rinse surfaces that will contact food.) Instead I just let it dry. After the very first application, the nasty, pungent, fungus smell that was formerly noticeable 4 feet away was now totally gone from my powder room. Clearly, this had killed whatever had started growing in there from the dampness. I continued to spray all surfaces two or three times a day, letting them dry out thoroughly between applications. I always get RMR-86 because it works so good!! I use it for algae on my outside paver and dilute it with water for the algae/mold on the outdoor pillows and cushions. However sometimes I feel that 86 can be too harsh and the smell is too strong. So I researched a little bit and find this one. I have to say this is my new favorite! Again however there are normal common sense considerations. How deep does the mold go? What’s under the carpet? Padding? Does that have mold? The floor under that? Also, how deep is the nap? How dense? You would need to do a color fast test in a place where you can get a result without creating a visible spot if the color is in fact affected. As far as the product effectively killing mold? Completely effective. I would probably use it liberally in a rug and under and then after I would want to use a hot water and soap solution to lift as much back out after leaving it in a good while. Then as much good air drying, Strong fans etc. If you’re going to do it, take the extra steps, time and effort to really succeed. Any lingering mold makes the entire project a waste because even the smallest amount left lingering means you’ve wasted your time because it will grow back. If you take the right easy steps, you can really be rid of it however so it’s truly gone and no longer a threat.
