## Description

Thoth Tarot Deck

Review: Does justice to Lady Frieda Harris' Art! - I just looooove this deck. The quality of the cards is quite good. They are sturdy, as long as you handle them with some care. The size is indeed quite big. Especially the breadth becomes a bit cumbersome to fit within the palms while shuffling, as the whole deck is decently heavy. But I'm not complaining, I knew what I signed up for. Not to mention those are the proportions in which Harris had designed the layout. The large size definitely helps in studying all the minute details and symbolism in every artwork, as even the tiniest and faintest of details hold meaning and play a significant role in understanding the overall esoteric implications of every card. Not to mention the large size of the artwork also generates quite a visual and visceral impact when a card is turned over. My only feedback for improvement would be, to improve the quality of the outer package. The quality is quite flimsy. Maybe it is the same thickness as the cards themselves, but since as I mentioned, the deck is quite heavy, the regular packaging is not able to hold the cards inside snugly. The top flap keeps flipping open by the weight of the deck and the cards keep slipping out. So I have to always hold it precisely in a horizontal position, and not tilt it. It's been difficult to find a box to keep the cards of this size and proportion inside, so a sturdier packaging would have helped. This is just an extra design related observation. I understand that the artworks are a direct reproduction of Harris' paintings. But decades later, we do live in times of smartphones, and our eyes have become accustomed to richer colors everywhere. Mayyybe, the saturation of the artworks could be very slightly tweaked, so that we get richer and vibrant colors, to generate more of a visual impact during readings. Because some of the artworks look kind of washed out and faded. Also, I know these are legacy cards and they will sell without any marketing or branding efforts. But just out of reverence and celebration of the legacy itself, the graphics on the packaging could be designed a lot more beautifully, instead of just superimposing two artworks on the back and on the front (why Two of Disks and The Chariot though, is there any specific reason for it?)
Review: Box was damaged, but the deck is my favourite. - The box came damaged and wasn't sealed - as you can see, I've used thick tape to put together the tears and things - but the cards inside seemed new and undamaged. I don't particularly mind the damage now that I've sanitised and taped the box. In fact, I am very grateful the cards were intact, and the thoth tarot has become one of my very favourites. The U.S. Games card stock is thin as usual, and a little slippery so just keep that in mind along with your shuffling style. Overall, I'm quite happy with the deck.
