If you don't manually keep careful tension and move the tip out as the coil grows the coil will collapse back on top of itself. It's a little easier than winding a coil on a screwdriver or mandrel, in that it only requires 2 hands, but it requires just as much care.I'd live to see these 5-star reviewers put up some videos demonstrating their technique.{edit}I've been using various screwdrivers and small vice grips to make my own coils for a few years. This often results in lost tension, dropped wire spools, all manner of problems. I've watched various jigs and winding tools appear over the last couple years and never really saw the value in them. This is the first coil winding tool I've seen worth buying. I haven't used this kit yet, but I know it'll take the headache out of coil making. It's a couple dollars more than the previous design, but I like the ability to make CW & CCW coils. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ WOW! This tool is AMAZING!!! *by T***R on January 26, 2019* If you're a vaping "builder" this is a DEFINITE must have addition to your toolkit.It takes a little practice to turn out picture perfect coils, but it's worth the time and effort. Take the time to search through YouTube and watch others before you start wrapping your own wire.VERY useful. PERFECT coils "almost" every time. See the comment about "practice" above.UPDATE: Not taking a star away...but have noticed that when making a 1.5mm coil the jig post wasn't tight and wobbled a little. I fixed that by adding a small scrap of wicking cotton in the hole to keep the post from wobbling. Problem solved. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product to make some coils with! Vape on! *by B***N on February 28, 2017* Pros: Good quality metal, threads seem like they will hold up for a long time, so much easier to wrap coils this way then by hand with a screwdriver, love that it comes with a little bag to keep everything together.Cons: The bit you put in spins in place i would like to se a v5 where maybe there's a grommet or little teeth that keep the bit from spinning, i would like the bit to fit just slightly tighter in place in the cap there's a tiny bit of wiggle, i would also like to see a v5 with bigger holes to feed your wire in; it would be so much easier to wrap Clapton's or some other type of larger coil with this device.
