Review: Good Starter Set - So I bought this set as my entrance into the world of miniature painting and after a few days I can say I’d recommend this set. I don’t have anything to compare it to but paints are great, the figure that comes with it is cool and the brush is decent enough. You will need to purchase a palate for your paint, I got one for about £2 after initially using a scrap bit of cardboard and I would also recommend buying an additional brush. In my photo the one of the left is the brush included and the one on the right is one I got from my local craft shop for about £1.50 and as you can see it’s much smaller so is better for doing fine detail. Only downside so far is I like holding the figures while I paint them and I’ve been rubbing the paint off in sections that have already dried. I don’t know if this is a me issue, a general issue or a reflection of the paint but take it as a tip if you’re also just starting out.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this paint require thinner?  Or can brushes be cleaned with water?**
A: As long as you don't let the paint dry on the brushes and rinse them fairly often, soap and water work just fine. The paints do dry pretty quickly though, so keep that in mind.

**Q: does it come with a guide on how to paint the mini?**
A: It does, however there is a video that can be found on youtube that correlates to this product that takes you through the process of painting the mini.

**Q: Do you need additional materials like primers and clear coats? or does it have everything you need? i've never painted and i have no artistic talent.**
A: This kit has everything you need to get started! It includes a gray primer so you can use that before you start painting. I use a spray primer that you could get at any hardware store and that works just fine. This kit does not come with a clear coat but I personally don’t use clear coats, but I am not a professional either. I have been very happy with how my minis have turned out so far. This kit is also great because it comes with two minis that you could practice painting with the video tutorials online. This could be very helpful especially if you are feeling nervous about artistic talent.

**Q: Where can I find more of the primer in this set? I can’t find it anywhere.**
A: The grey primer in this set is essential the same as The Army Painter Color Primer, Uniform Grey, which is sold as a spray can. If you prefer applying primer with your paint brush, look for Vallejo Acrylic Paint, SURFACE PRIMER 70.601 Grey Gris.

So I bought this set as my entrance into the world of miniature painting and after a few days I can say I’d recommend this set. I don’t have anything to compare it to but paints are great, the figure that comes with it is cool and the brush is decent enough.
