China is stamped on the handle. **Q: Is it silicon? If you sauce your pasta before serving does the sauce stain it?** A: No **Q: HOW is this $19????** A: I don't know? I purchased it last year for $14. Thought it was a lot but I live somewhere that we get seriously, evilly hammered for shipping and the shipping was free from Amazon so to me it was free, cause the shipping on something like that would have been $20, got a whole box of silly utensils. The granddaughters loves them. **Q: Can this be used for wide pad thai rice noodles?** A: It's stout and made heavy gauge. It's a useful implement in the kitchen. I would not see why it couldn't be used on any noodles or rice. It's actually sturdy, properly sized, and does the job that it's supposed to do. Plus come on! It's a Pastasaurus! Update - I purchased this back in June 2015. It is now September 2016. Time for an update! The pictures posted with this review were taken in Sept 2016, but I have to admit that this thing looks exactly the same as it did when I ordered it. I like to follow up on items that impress me after a great deal of use, and this is one of those items. We have affectionately named ours "Phteven," and he's part of the family now. Absolutely no signs of wear or staining after probably a hundred uses - getting pasta out of boiling water, scooping pasta that's been mixed with tomato-based sauce, using as a substitute for just about anything that requires a slotted spoon, and dozens of trips through the dishwasher.
