I also position the buckles on my straps, so that they aren't getting thrashed by the other 50 bags piled ON TOP of mine in the cargo-hold of the airlines. I KNOW, I stacked bags for way too long, for one of the major airlines. Move your buckles, so that the vertical strap buckle is at the bottom (down between your wheels), and your horizontal one is positioned on one of the zippered sides. Works great, no more broken buckles. Do yourself a favor, and double-strap your luggage. Especially those of you, who are complaining about 'zipper failure' on your stuffed suitcase.
