My dad was a welder. I had a brain injury in 03. Since then, I’ve wanted to weld. Odd I know, but I have. I finally got around to getting a welder. The first, was like $60. BUT, from that, I started getting into it. Every day, I would just sit and watch videos online. I started to really want a good welder, that could weld a variety of metals. I searched and searched the internet. I live in Maryland, around other houses. We do not have the power here, to run a big welder. I looked at generators. I learned that many times, generators do not run welders well. So, I looked and looked and learned and learned. I saw an engine driven welder. I then remembered my dad had a Bobcat. It sat in the back of his truck.So, the price, wow, blew my mind. I had a brain injury, as I said and I get money from S.S. I realized that the best thing to do, was get an engine driven welder.I started saving. A couple of years I saved. I finally had enough and I ordered a Bobcat 250, with electric fuel pump.The thing arrived and I could do nothing. As I said, I just decided to get one. I knew nothing on welder, but what I had learned from the internet and watching a video I got, as well as videos on YouTube. I needed cables. I got them. I got the things to put on the end, to allow them to connect to the welder, as well as the things to hook on the end to weld. The clamp and the electrode holder. I hooked everything up myself. First, I got the wrong connectors. Mine, so the guy told me at the place I got the correct ones, were euro connectors.After I got everything hooked up, put the gas in, got the metal and started welding. I almost cried. It worked, so well. I was sure that a machine this expensive and advanced, would be really hard to figure out. Nope. I got a thing, showing me the correct settings, for metal type and thickness. I set the machine to that and welded away. I noticed a huge difference, in my low cost one and this. First, the brightness. This thing, gets SO bright when it welds. Second, you really don’t even have to moth from left to right. This thing just welds straight down. Note that I still go left to right. Third, the gas in this freaking thing, is crazy. I put premium gas in this, in July or the beginning of August. The thing is STILL half full. Fourth, starting is easy. You pull the choke thing out, turn it to the right setting, be it AC, DC, this or that, and your off. Fifth, the electrode seems to last a lot longer with this machine, then it did with the low cost one.Now that I have used the thing, I could not be any happier with my purchase. You should know, this thing does get hot. I have a shed, in our back yard. I wait an hour or two, after I weld, to put it back in the shed. It can also be loud. It does quiet down. But, be prepared to hear some noise. I put on things to protect my ears when I turn the thing on.I am so happy with this machine. I am proud to have saved for one. I am proud ot have purchased one and I will always use Miller machines.I've added pictures of things I have done with the machine. Note, I said I am teaching myself. LOL Also, I've not knocked any of the stuff off. I just welded it. Also, I am aware the legs to the table are bent.
