Wasn't aware Bluetooth mic plug was a different type from the early unit as I was hoping to leave original in place. On test, mic didn't work (obviously) so spent some considerable time removing a lot of the dashboard to access wire for old mic. You could leave the old wire in place but then passing on the old unit to someone else would be missing mic. If fitting in a Defender would recommend also purchasing Alpine KTP-445 head unit amplifier. If you upgrade the speakers you won't be able to hear the clattering of the engine at all. Nice unit is are all Alpine products. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent car stereo/fm radio with bluetooth *by M***H on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 April 2020* This is an excellent replacement for my old Alpine 173BT which had developed bluetooth problems after years of trouble free use. This should be an easy plug & play replacement as the 203BT is just a newer version & all was good except the existing microphone for handsfree telephone use with the 173BT is not compatible with the 203BT. A new microphone was supplied of course but I had hoped not to have to dismantle part of the car in order to install the new one.
