It is great! It is clearly divided into four sections, which are defined by pastel colours, which helps when teaching dictionary skills. Perfect for use by children from 5 to 8 years old (younger children may need support). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well worth the money. *by J***Y on 30 October 2025* My nephew's little boy of 2 1/2yrs loves books and was very happy with it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Starter Dictionary *by A***H on 24 January 2012* Ideally I would like to give this book 3.5 stars but went for 4 as I think 3 stars is a little too less. As I am writing this review, I realised that actually it should be my five year old who should write this as I bought it for them! She likes some of the pictures that are in the book that go with certain words. She likes the days and months at the end of the book. She has taken it to school with her to show her teachers. From a parents perspective, this book (paper back) is nicely laid out. It is A4 size and has 120 odd pages. Obviously there are many words that did not make the dictionary but I think it covers many words that a 5 year old is likely to come across in their school day (Vulture and misunderstood are not in there). I could be harsh and say that some letters do not have as many examples as there should be for e.g. Z Overall, I would recommend this book to other parents out there looking for a first time dictionary.
