Review: shaft MAY be reversed - I like the shop fox unit and it works well, however, I did have to turn the shaft around. First time I tried it, the nuts tried to unscrew themselves. In the directions, it says the left hand threads go on the left side - they were on the right. It's not hard to correct, and maybe this was an anomaly, but thought you'd like to know. Except for that, it's the best in 3/4 inch that I could find.
Review: Quality of the structure - Not had a chance to put a motor behind it yet, but close inspection looks good and sturdy. It will be used to acquire a glossy smooth finish on electric guitars.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Have they fixed the static problem since these reviews?**
A: Rod is pretty much in a"free float" motion. The 2 rubber grommets that hold the rod from each end DONT conduct electricity. With that being said, in order to ground the static the actual rod needs to be grounded. Very tricky. I am also looking for help on this

**Q: I want to use this with a 1/2 hp 1725 rpm motor. it is practical to use buffer and possibly wire wheels smaller than the 10" recommended size?**
A: I use 6inch wheels for lapidary work. So I would think smaller sizes should work. Hope this helps

**Q: do you have a version of the arbor with shorter shaft?**
A: I have not seen a shorter shaft version . I’m thinking that would be like a setup for bench grinder. You need the longer shaft for buffing .

**Q: Can I use 2.95hp 2800 rpm motor for this arbor?**
A: Actually yes, depending on the size of the motor's pulley it should be fine. With a 2 inch drive pulley you can use the 4 inch pulley on the arbor and get 1400 RPM. Anything over that is out of the range this buffing assembly was meant to operate at. If you use the 3 inch one you'll end up with 1866 RPM which is unfortunately too fast for safe operation. If your drive pulley is larger than 2" you'll be out of luck though. You could also fit your motor with a specifically sized pulley and potentially get closer to the 1700 RPMs you'd want for example: A 1 and 3/4 inch pulley on the motor which would give you around 1700 RPM on the 3 inch pulley inside the buffing assembly AND let you use the 4 inch pulley for a slower speed.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mine's powder-coated

Haven't used it yet, but it looks great. Powder coated, not painted. Nicely machined spindle. I wonder if they fixed the sparking problem too?
