I would recommend a 30 to 40 inch long rain stick that would have a longer sustained trickle for use by a teacher in the classroom to get attention. Small size good for a few seconds of rain-trickle when played correctly." If you tip it at an angle (not straight up and down) and slowly rotate, the trickle lasts longer. Even so, with the 15" length it is not possible to get a long sustain. If you really want to hear a sustained rain trickle sound, you need to get 40", 50", or 60" length.
