Crape Myrtle Trees will bloom red all summer long and mature up to 30 feet at a rate of 3-5 feet per year. My crapes are shipped in super strong boxes, carefully secured in their original containers, and never shipped bare root. Container trees can be planted at any time of the year, but crapes are especially tolerant of summer heat. They actually thrive in the heat. Depending on the variety chosen, your trees will arrive at your door about 6-12 inches tall. I am a school teacher and I grow hundreds of crape in my backyard. **Q: Will these trees thrive in zone 5**
A: Yes. They thrive in zones 5-9

**Q: Title indicates red while further down the description indicates the color is white. which is it?**
A: Sorry.  These are red.

**Q: Can arapaho crape myrtle trees be pruned to keep maximum height of 8-10 feet? does it shed leaves in winter; i am in zone 6, is it hardy here**
A: You could keep it pruned back, although it's frowned upon.  Many call it crape murder.  It would be better to choose a variety that matures to the max height you need. Zone 6 will be borderline.  A harsh winter could kill the top growth of the tree and have to start over from roots the following year.

**Q: I planted these a couple days ago.  When should I start to see growth on them? I live in central florida**
A: Crape myrtles have a resting period called dormancy in the winter. They will start leafing out in the spring when temperatures get into the 80s. They are one of  the last plants to emerge from dormancy in the spring but pay off as having one of the longest bloom time of any plant during the summer.
