I didn't have any trouble with installation although some users may need to allow it through the security center. The software included adds additional features beyond back and forward like a normal presenter. Without the software, in case you aren't able to install it, the back and forward buttons still work and the scene button shows the mouse pointer instead of the zoom and digi-laser. Scene ModeScene mode is a substitute and perhaps the successor to a traditional laser pointer. It allows you to focus on part of the screen while subduing the rest (aperture) or use an onscreen dot similar to a traditional laser pointer. The micro SD card has the software for the advanced features built into the USB dongle. I could imagine this would be very useful for storing a presentation on it as a backup in case of using someone else's computer.TimerThe timer appears to start as soon as you turn it on. I couldn't figure out how to pause or reset the timer once it started without opening the presenter software. If this is possible using combo keys it should be covered in the instructions. The timer vibration is useful but I don't think it is subtle enough. If presenting to a quiet room I would either not use it or address it with software to adjust the magnitude if possible.Button Identification/LayoutI would recommend establishing a more natural button identification schema. People complain about the up and down buttons being confusing. Knowing page down advances on a standard keyboard is intuitive to me, but it might be useful to put left and right arrows instead assuming most presenting software follows this logic. Additionally, the instructions could be revamped instead of stating buttons 1-4, give them names like next, previous, scene, and shift to make it easier to remember all the button combos. While reading the instructions I frequently had to scroll back and forth to see the button diagram. It would also be nice if the button commands/combinations could be customized through the software but I couldn't find any others in this price point that could do this.Overall, its a nice presenter and has features you can't find in a traditional presenter at a similar price point like the Logitech R400. I haven't had a chance to test the battery life since I've only used it a few times but it seems more convenient to charge it instead of replacing batteries and it comes with a handy carrying case (although it is a little thin to be considered durable). Also, since there are only four buttons, there are a lot of button combinations which can be confusing. The timer is also a point of concern which I think could be better addressed in the documentation and app about how to pause and reset it (if possible). I teach using a pc, document camera and a television for a "screen." I have found that laser pointers don't work. This presenter not only has a digital pointer feature, but it also will spotlight and magnify. Initially, I was confused with how to work the tool, but I read through all of the manual, which is easily accessible, and found it very user friendly. It also works as a wireless mouse and helps make my lectures much more seamless.
