If you floss properly, you get into the curve where the tooth meets the gum, not just between the teeth. However, these are a good substitute when you are on the go or if like me you floss twice a day and want a quick method once a day. **Q: Are these better than floss** A: They are better than floss for removing food debris from between teeth at the gum level. They have soft, flexible tiny brush-like projections at the tip that are effective in scrubbing away junk by the gums. They are too fat to get between the teeth themselves unless you have wider gaps between your teeth. They cannot get out something stuck between your teeth.
