When it hits the current limit, it will go into current mode. So just sent the current limit to the current you'd like and set the voltage limit to something above the voltage needed to create the desired current. **Q: Is the 5 amp output ac or dc amps ?** A: DC Amps out at whatever voltage you have set. **Q: I can make output 13v 0.5a? i buy couple different devices like that and if i up v to 13 i can't put down a to 0.5** A: Yes, This supply can be set to 1/2A (500mA) even when set to higher voltages. I just tried it. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid supply at a reasonable price *by B***C on April 9, 2017* This was bought for some basic lab bring-up. Our system used 48V, thus the need for the 60V model. Interface is straightforward, and it's easy to switch between coarse and fine adjustments. I would have rather seen the On/Off button labeled as Enable, but not a big deal. I do like the fact that the settings for both voltage and current are displayed when the output is disabled and then the display immediately switches to actual status as soon as the output is enabled. The status LEDs give you a nice concise view so that you can quickly see what the supply is doing. I would definitely order this again when we expand the lab. ### ⭐ One day after the warrantly was up it broke *by A***. on December 25, 2019* It was seriously a day after the one year warranty was up that this thing broke. The internal power supply went bad. A lot of money for only one year of use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Almost amazing *by S***Y on December 21, 2018* I am very impressed with the quality of this power supply. Supply has optional over current protection and over voltage protection which will stop the supply if the current or voltage limits. Each is independent. It also has voltage and current limiting along with an indicator that will tell you which is the limiting factor for your circuit. Initial testing shows voltage stability over a fixed resistance is rock solid, no noise could be seen on the oscilloscope.Edit: After some usage I've identified one issue with the supply. If it rapidly switches between current mode and voltage mode the relays click and the display goes haywire.
